Springmoot 2026 will be held at the Townhouse Hotel, Manchester from Friday 24th until Sunday 26th April 2026, with The Tolkien Society AGM and Annual Dinner on Saturday 25th April.
About the weekend
Springmoot is held each April on the weekend of The Tolkien Society’s Annual General Meeting. This year, it goes to Manchester for the first time
The weekend will begin with an innmoot at 18:00 on the Friday evening, at The Deansgate, 321 Deansgate, Manchester, M3 4LQ. The venue is a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel, and is just outside the Deansgate-Castlefield tram stop. There is an area reserved for The Tolkien Society on the ground floor, in the snug area near the bar.
The AGM itself will be held in the Clegg Suite, and will start at 15:00 on the Saturday afternoon. The AGM may only be attended by members of The Tolkien Society.
The semi-formal Annual Dinner will be held in The Cotton Mill room that evening, with our Guest Speaker Professor Giuseppe Pezzini.

Other accommodation is, of course, available throughout the city.
Annual Dinner
Bookings for the Annual Dinner are now open. The cost is £40 per person.
The three-course menu is as follows:
- Starter
- Heritage Tomato Soup, with basil crisps (V) (VE on request)
- Smoked Salmon, with crème fraiche, capers and baltic rye bread (GF on request)
- Ham Hock and Pea Terrine, with piccalilli, pickled red onions and sourdough bread
- Mint and Pea Falafel, with yogurt dip (V)
- Main
- 6oz Rib Eye Steak, with chunky cut chips, baked tomato, portobello mushroom and peppercorn sauce (GF)
- Seafood Egg Noodle, with stir fry vegetables (GF)
- Baked Butternut Squash, with stuffed vegetables, wild rice and herb oil dressing (V) (VE)
- Dessert
- Belgian Chocolate and Clementine Tart, with fresh berries (V)
- Date Pudding, soaked in custard, toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream (V)
- Strawberry Gateau, with wild berry compote (V)
- Ice cream, vanilla, chocolate and strawberry (V) (GF)
- Fruit salad (V) (VE) (GF)

The hotel is located in Manchester city centre, only 15 minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly train station and a 5-minute walk from the St Peter’s Square tram stop.
