We’ve put together a range free educational resources for educators based around specific books and themes from our events.
Books
These resources are interdisciplinary and explore a broad range of elements from Tolkien’s book. They are designed so that you can use them in any way you wish. You can work through them sequentially, reorder them, or pick and choose. Each lesson offers a variety of activities but you can mix these up and change them as you wish.

Events
Tolkien Reading Day is held on the 25th of March each year. It has been organised by the Tolkien Society since 2003 to encourage fans to celebrate and promote the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien by reading favourite passages. The Society announces a different theme every year.
The Tolkien Society Seminar is a short conference of researcher-led presentations on a specific theme pertaining to Tolkien scholarship. These resources can be used as a series or as individuals lessons that are accessible for any school or event. Each lesson plan includes links to resources that you can use, simply click on the underlined words/phrases to download and print.
The paper recordings of each seminar are also available for free on our YouTube channel.
